Look 10 to 15 years younger with Fraxel Re:Pair Rejuvenating Laser!
Fraxel which is a new method of laser resurfacing which uses fractional laser technology. There are a number of devices on the market today that utilize this breakthrough technique, of which Fraxel is among the most popular. The effects vary depending on what each patient wants. Some treatments from other machines are very mild so the down time is minimal as well as the results. Fraxel re:pair treatments are more aggressive and require somewhat more down time but have much better results.
The main benefits from these treatments include:
- Improve texture and tone of the skin, with significant removal of many wrinkles
- Diminish unwanted brown spots
- Rejuvenate your face, neck, chest, arms and hands
- Significantly improve acne scars
The concept of this laser is to create pin point vertical wounds, in the skin separated by non-treated skin. The laser creates small injuries (the diameter of a hair shaft) in the skin leaving normal, untreated skin in between. This untreated area heals the wound by removing the treated skin and replacing it with healthy tissue. During each treatment only a fraction of the skin is treated. The advantage of treating the face with partial wound spacing is there is less down time and risk of adverse events while obtaining a significant clinical improvement. This treatment is safe enough to treat the face, neck, chest, arms and hands, unlike the other ablative resurfacing treatments.
Prior to your first Fraxel treatment your physician will let you know specifically what you need to do before your treatment. Next, your Doctor will take Fraxel before and after photos, so you can see your skin’s improvement. Next an anesthetic cream will be applied to the skin in the treatment for about 45 minutes to an hour. Eye covering is applied to protect the eyes from laser light. Depending on the treatment area, the session takes about 20-30 minutes. During the treatment, cold air will be blown on the area to help reduce the discomfort. Usually local injections will be used to prevent pain. Your doctor will provide you with aftercare instructions along with a follow-up appointment.
The advantage of treating the skin in this manner is that there is less down time and risk of adverse reactions and the reported scarring is less than 1%.
